How can we help people feel more capable of taking an active role in their health, especially when illness has changed what they can do and how they feel about their body?

This session for health and wellbeing professionals explores the connection between structured exercise and personal agency: the ability to make choices, take action and influence everyday life.

01

MEET THE SPEAKER

Rūdolfs Cešeiko, PhD

Rūdolfs Cešeiko

Rūdolfs Cešeiko leads the Exercise Oncology Clinic in Riga, Latvia, where he works with people during and after cancer treatment. His work combines research with individually adapted exercise, including strength and aerobic training. His research has examined strength training during breast cancer treatment.

His connection to this work is personal. At 22, while pursuing athletics and studying business management, he was diagnosed with cancer. That experience changed his direction and led him to study occupational therapy, followed by a career in exercise physiology and research. He brings both professional knowledge and the experience of having been a patient himself.
